Pearly Kings and Queens

Last lesson Nela told us about the Pearly Kings and Queens, known as pearlies. We had never heard about them.

Now we know that this practice of wearing clothes decorated with mother-of-pearl buttons are a charitable tradition organized by working-class people who live in London. Basically, it's a charity movement.

Brownies: what are they?

Brownies are chocolate cookies. They are commonly consumed in British cultural world and are made with flour, fat (oil or butter), sugar, eggs and chocolate (molten or cocoa powder).

Tea Party

This month we have had an English Tea Party. Nela brought the black tea and some brownies, the students brought scones, several cakes, jam and a bottle of sweet wine.

Each student should provide his/her own mug

At the end of the school year (2022-23): we had lunch

We had lunch in a very nice restaurant in Almada. See what a nice bunch we are!...

Nela's Gang

We are English senior students and we have Nela as our teacher. We have decided to create a blog where we can tell about us.
